Kenneth H. Van Egtern

Kenneth H. Van Egtern, 78, of Waupun, passed away peacefully Friday morning, October 26, 2018 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac surrounded by his loving family.


Ken was born March 2, 1940 in Waupun the son of George and Eunice Armga Van Egtern.  Ken graduated from Waupun High School in 1958 and began his career in farming. On September 30, 1960 he married Jan Mueller at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Waupun.  Following their marriage the couple resided in Waupun until 1973 when they moved to Mt. Horeb. In 1982 the couple moved to Lomira and in 1989 moved back to Waupun. At this time Ken was employed by Farmer’s Elevator in Waupun and retired after 20 years. Ken loved  spending time with family and enjoyed bowling, sports, and snowmobiling. He loved watching his son and grandchildren participate in various athletics. He attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun.


Ken is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jan Van Egtern; four children: Lori (John) Haack of Cross Plains, Lisa (Doug) Brinker of Baraboo, Lois (Keith) Sternat of Fond du lac, and Kent (Stacy) Van Egtern of La Crosse; 11 grandchildren: Jared (Carly) Haack, Justin (Alexis) Haack, Jillian (Brian) Wolters, Brent (Marianne) Brinker, Kayla (Gary) Bowar, Kelsey (Robert) Fisk, Lindey Sternat, Lacey (Tim) Benike, Logan Sernat, Trenton Van Egtern (fiance Sara Wade), and Trevon Van Egtern; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; four sisters: Margaret Mason of Waupun, Janice (Melvin) Pluim of Waupun, Phyllis Hofman of Waupun, and Gladys (Ronald) Vick of Fox Lake; a brother, Richard (Sharon) Van Egtern of Fond du La; a sister-in-law, Margaret Van Egtern of Fox Lake; nieces; nephews; and Jan’s brothers, sisters, and their spouses who Ken loved dearly.


He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Van Egtern; eight brothers-in-law; and four sisters-in-law.


Funeral services for Ken Van Egtern will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waupun with Rev. Dennis Overlien officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Monday from 3-7 p.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
