Kevin J. Hermann

Kevin John Hermann passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.   Kevin was born on July 27, 1965 to John and Jean Hermann (Tessmer). He was a graduate of Goodrich High School, and he also earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Naval Science at the University of Wisconsin Madison.  Kevin also earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at Old Dominion University in Norfolk Virginia. 

Kevin was only 17 when he joined the Navy.  Right after he signed up, he was placed in the ROTC program to become a Naval Officer.   Kevin was always known for his high IQ, and his wealth of knowledge.  Kevin worked hard to achieve the rank of Lieutenant Commander in his 17 years of Active duty.  After his active duty, he continued to serve for 13 years with inactive reserve status.  Kevin was also a highly respected professional at CACI International, where he excelled throughout his 20+ year career.  He ultimately managed a large contract at the naval shipyards.  More importantly, he was a friend and mentor to many.

Wherever Kevin went he had a wealth of friends.  Kevin was the type of person who was willing to do anything he could to help a friend and in return, his friends would do anything they could to help him.  Kevin had a deep love for animals, and his dogs were his world.  He also donated frequently to the ASPCA.  Kevin was a favorite uncle to all his nieces and nephews, whether they were blood related or not. 

Kevin is survived by, Jean Hermann (mother), Susan Hermann (sister), Stephany and Derek Drapp (niece), Casey Hermann Jr.(nephew), Sarah Dickey (niece), Susannah Dickey (niece), Luke Drapp (great nephew), his future great niece Katy Drapp, Judith Blackburn (aunt), Sharon and Dennis Galvin (aunt), Carl and Sherral Tessmer (uncle), and his beloved dogs Mira and Camillia.  Kevin was proceeded in death by, Casey Hermann Sr. (beloved brother), John Hermann (father), Sylvia Grade and Clarence Tessmer (maternal grandparents), and Chester and Luetta Hermann (paternal grandparents).

The visitation will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 9:30 – 10:00 AM at Memorial Baptist Church.  The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday at church.  Burial will follow in Estabrooks Cemetery.
