Lawrence L. Lohse

Lawrence “Larry” L. Lohse, 81, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at his residence.

He was born on August 15, 1939, in Fond du Lac, the son of Lawrence A. and Georgia C. Streblow Lohse.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac.  He graduated from St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Grade School in 1953.  He was a graduated of L.P. Goodrich High School, Class of 1957.  On November 1, 1958, he married Lucille “Lou” A. Waite, at St. Peter’s church rectory, with Pastor Gerhardt Pieper officiating.

Larry had an Engineering apprenticeship at Giddings & Lewis Machine Tool Co.  He worked 40 years in the marine industry, primarily in development of propulsion systems at Kiekhaefer Mercury, Kiekhaefer Aeromarie, BMW Marine GmbH, and Mercury Racing.  He participated in water ski shows and tournaments as a member of the Fondy Aquaflyers Water Ski Club.  Larry was Race Director for Forward Fond du Lac during the years of the snowmobile races at Kiekhaefer Park.  He spent many years boating, both power and sail, and was a member of the Fond du Lac Yacht Club.  He always enjoyed competitive Bocce ball tournaments with the neighbors.

He is survived by his wife Lou Lohse, two sons: Lance (Sue) Lohse of Malone and Lon (partner Sheila) Lohse of Glencoe, MN; four grandchildren: Ashley (Tony) Bauer, Kassandra Lohse, Angie (Chandler) Hunkins and Ben Lohse, two great-grandsons: Vince and Johnny; his brother Dave (Christine) Lohse of North Fond du Lac, sister-in-law Barb Dehring of Fond du Lac and many niece, nephews and sisters-in-law.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wayne (Ethel) Lohse, nephew Brett Lohse, his brother-in-law Alvin Dehring and other loved family and friends.

VISITATION: Friends may call from 9:30 – 11:00 AM on Monday, January 18, 2021 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1600 South Main Street, Fond du Lac.

SERVICE: A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 18, 2021 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, with Rev. Michael J. Zuberbier officiating.  Inurnment to take place at Lyons Forest Home Cemetery.
