Leon A. Propson

Leon A. Propson, age 72, of Potter, died on April 17, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born September 24, 1948, son of the late Randolph and Florence Propson. On October 21, 1972, he married Janice Goerl and together they had five children.

Leon’s entire life was a shining example of dedication and hard work. He worked for 37 years delivering mail for the Brillion Post Office and still found time to be a 4H Youth Leader in Rantoul for many years. He was a great father and a very proud grandpa. He would always get down on the floor to play with his grandchildren, and he pitched in on jobs and projects whenever he visited his family. He liked to joke around and enjoyed camping, gardening, and planting flowers. He was handy and made many Christmas wreaths over the years for friends and family.

Leon is survived by his wife, Janice; his children: Vincent (Christy) Propson, Adam (Brenda) Propson, Chris Propson (Lindsay Wells), Patrick (Juliana) Propson, and Meagan (Brad) Diener; grandchildren: Lauren, Julie, Tyler, Christian, Luca, Asher, Madelyn, Alana, Aubrey, Hadley, and Sydney; siblings: Patsy (Jim) Schneider, Carol Propson, Ronald (Joanne) Propson, Vernon (Mary) Propson, Theresa (Dick) Robach; in-laws: Joe Loderbauer, Dorothy (Lee) Hackel and Dan (Diane) Goerl; and his godchildren: Richard Loderbauer and Ann Elenbaas.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Florence; a grandson: Oscar Propson; sister: Donna Mae Loderbauer; nephews: Joshua Schwabenlander and Jason Miller; mother- and father-in-law: Ceil and Roger Goerl; and in-laws: Susan (Bob) Miller and David “Whitey” Goerl.

A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 11:00am on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church (108 S. 6th St.) in Hilbert. Friends may call from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, April 23, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, and again from 10:00am until 11:00am at the church on Saturday. Masks are required for those attending visitation and services at the church. A committal service will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Hilbert immediately following the funeral. A vigil prayer service will take place following visitation at the funeral home on Friday evening.

We express our sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Elizabeth’s hospital. A special thank you to Chaplin Nan for her support and excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name of Leon Propson.
