LeRoy Gross

LeRoy Gross, 79, of the Town of Empire in rural Fond du Lac, passed into eternal life on Saturday, November 10th, at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay after a lengthy illness. LeRoy was born on August 7, 1939, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend to Albert and Cecelia (Pesch) Gross. He grew up on a farm in the Town of Auburn in southeastern Fond du Lac County. He graduated from Kewaskum High School after which he took a job with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. After the railroad eliminated the passenger service he took a job with Gehl Brothers Manufacturing in West Bend.

On June 9, 1962, he was united in marriage to Judy Fellenz at St. Michael Church in St. Michael, WI. In 1965, the family moved to the Town of Empire where he and his wife eventually established Colonial Gardens Mobile Home Park as a family business.

LeRoy was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also on the Monday night dart ball league at the American Legion hall. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg where he was also an usher.

LeRoy was an excellent accordion and keyboard player. He enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He also was known as Mr. Fix It. He could fix nearly anything that needed fixing. LeRoy was very quick witted and always loved telling jokes.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Judy; five children, Annette (Steven) Soldner, Gary (friend Erica) Gross, Michelle (Nick) Cwian, Bradlee (Lisa) Gross, and Kurt (fiancé Amanda) Gross; twenty-one grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Ron (Carol Herriges) Gross and family; special people, Bill Bruce, Kim Subrod, Raphael and Brianna Cervantes and family. Preceding him in death were his parents; and one son, Joseph.

Visitation will take place on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 3-7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg, WI, N8794 County Road W, Malone, WI. Visitation will also take place on Saturday at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will take place at 3:00 PM at St. Matthias Cemetery, County Road S, Town of Auburn.
