Leroy John Weber

Leroy John Weber, age 90, of Chilton, passed away on January 18, 2015 at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. Born in Port Washington December 7, 1924 to the late Jacob & Elizabeth (Lorge) Weber, he attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Port Washington. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1943 to 1946 with the Seventh Field Depot in World War II. After returning home, he married Anna Freitag on October 5, 1946. Leroy worked for Kwick Mix in Port Washington and then worked as a welder for A.O. Smith in Milwaukee where he welded atomic energy tubes. In 1963, Leroy and his family moved to Chilton, where he purchased Weber Leather Goods Store from his uncle. He and his son, Ken, expanded the family business into a men’s and ladies’ clothing store known as Weber’s Store, Inc. where he worked until his retirement at the age of 72. Leroy’s faith was a very important part of his life. He served his parish on the Pastoral Council and as an usher. He and Anna enjoyed traveling the country over the course of their life together. His Marine Reunions over several years also held a special place in his heart. He is survived by his wife: Anna; son: Kenneth L. (Sally) Weber of Canton, OH; grandchildren: Mark (Shawna Huss) of Combined Locks, Nicholas of Cedar Falls, IA, Elizabeth of Columbus, OH, Catherine (Charles) Holinka of Kaukauna, Victoria of Chilton; great grandchildren: Jacob Weber, Isayah Weber, & Abigail Holinka; and sisters-in-law: Fran Betz of Grafton, & Ruth Klenner of Cedarburg. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; step father: Adolph Bode; sisters: Angeline Stanisch, Sylvia Jacque & Alice Meyer; father and mother-in-law: John & Helena (Becker) Freitag; brothers-in-law: William Betz, Norbert Freitag, Clem Freitag, Vic Meyer, Ed Jacque, Alfred Stanisch; a niece: Karen Cate; and nephews: Robert Stanch and infant William Betz, Jr. Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Ryan Krueger officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am until 11:15 am on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. The family expresses gratitude to all the staff at the Chilton Care Center and Calumet County Home Health Care/Hospice, especially Karen Doerr. They would also like to thank Dr. Tipler, Lisa Schabach & Dr. O’Brien for all of the care they have shown to Leroy. Memorials are appreciated in the name of Leroy J. Weber.
