Leslie L. Rotzien

Leslie L. Rotzien, age 91, of Chilton, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Chilton. He was born October 22, 1923 in Michigan City, IN, son of the late Leo & Viola (Richter) Rotzien. Leslie married June R. Schroeder on November 7, 1942 in Michigan City, IN. Shortly after his marriage, Leslie served in the South Pacific during WWII with the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge in 1945, he continued to work in Indiana for a few years. Under the advice of his cousin, Leslie brought his family to Northeast Wisconsin where he had purchased a farm and proudly became a local farmer. He later began working for Hein Construction where he worked until his retirement after the age of 70. In his free time, Leslie enjoyed time spent fishing, watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers. He also tended to his flower and vegetable gardens and carved animals out of small blocks of wood while on winter vacation in Florida. Leslie always looked for ways to be helpful to those around him. It brought him great joy to be able to help a neighbor mow lawn, shovel snow, or showcase his sewing talent by fixing a jacket zipper or by making his granddaughter’s wedding veil by his own hand. His friendly demeanor and willingness to help positively impacted those around him. Survivors include his wife: June; his daughter: Lesley of Chilton; a granddaughter: Carole (Will) Burns of Texas; 2 great-grandchildren: Emily & Sarah Burns; and a sister-in-law: Ruth Reid of Downers Grove, IL. Leslie is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Virgil; and a sister: Ruth. – See more at: http://www.wietingfuneralhome.com/obituaries/leslie-l-rotzien/#sthash.IWbETOc2.dpuf
