Lori K. Buechel

Lori K. Buechel, age 56, of New Holstein, died on Monday, June 7, 2021 at her home in New Holstein. She was born June 12, 1964 in Chilton, daughter of the late LeRoy & Kathryn (Kurth) Koehler.

Even before she graduated high school, Lori began her working career at the Northland Turkey Farm before transitioning to Tecumseh Products in New Holstein where she worked until the plant closed, nearly 20 years later.  It was during this time that she married Scott Buechel on May 25, 1985 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown.  She had later worked at Vollrath Stoelting until her health prevented her from continuing.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly St. Martin Parish.  She looked forward to rides on the motorcycle throughout the countryside and spending time around the fire while on camping trips.  Lori was known to always attempt her hand at cooking, and although not always successful, she was quite known for her ability to make delicious baked goods.

Since anyone can remember, Lori did all that she could to help raise funds and awareness for cancer research through walks, relays and any other means necessary.  Lori was a motherly figure to everyone she came in contact with and stood up for all that was decent and kind.  Although she had a ‘bad-ass’ demeanor, she cared deeply about all those she loved.  She was even known to make a blanket by her own hand for all of her nieces and nephews and made sure to keep track of her husband and all of his ideas.

Survivors include her husband: Scott; her children: Melissa Buechel, Sara Lynn Buechel, Joshua Buechel and his significant other, Nicole Vlietstra & Matthew Buechel; 1 grandchild: Jayden Buechel; her siblings: Judy (Fred), Donna (Tom), Randy (Connie) Michael, Linda (Willie); siblings-in-law: Cheryl, Bobbie Jo (Ben) & Brian (Vicki); and her mother-in-law: LaVerne Buechel.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lori was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Tom & David; father-in-law: George “Butch” Buechel; a sister-in-law: Patti; and a niece: Martha.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton with Dcn. Dennis Bennin officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Martin Catholic Cemetery in Charlestown.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Saturday, June 12, 2021 and on Sunday at the funeral home from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm when the service will be held.
