Lorraine F. Bender

Lorraine F. Bender, 93 of Fond du Lac, died Monday, April 12, 2021 at Hospice Home of Hope. She was born in Shawano, Wis. on December 1, 1927, a daughter of Arnold, Sr., and Flora (Martens) Albertz. On March 22, 1947 Lorraine married Frederick “Fritz” Bender in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2004.

Lorraine enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching westerns and Brewer games on television, and riding the bingo bus with family and friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Lorraine worked for Miles Kimball, Wells Manufacturing and Madison Scouts Bingo. She was a 1946 graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School. Lastly, she was especially proud of her husband, 3 brothers, and 4 brothers-in-law military service in World War Two as well as two of her sons military service in Vietnam.  

Survivors include three children, Janice Stroffregan of Las Vegas, Nev., Herman Bender and Mark (Janet) Bender, all Fond du Lac; five grandchildren, Shane (Romona) Stroffregan of Henderson, Nev., Brian Bender of Huntsville, Ala., Steven Bender of San Francisco, Calif., Sarah Bender (husband William) of Oshkosh, and Nathan Bender of Neenah; two great-grandchildren, Henry and Iris; three siblings, June Schaetzel, Ruth “Tootie” Albertz (Wayne Kaiser), and Elaine Lamb, all Fond du Lac; a brother-in-law, Sam (Sharon) Bender of Taycheedah; and two sisters-in-law, Sally Albertz of Fond du Lac and Dorothy Peterson of Waupun as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold, Sr., and Flora; husband, Fritz; a son, Frederick Bender, Jr.; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Bender and Kathy Bender; six siblings, Arnold (Lorraine), Milton, Doris (Ernest), Lois (Lester), Lincoln, and Evelyn “Mazzie”; and nine brothers and sisters-in-law.  

A celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place with burial in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery to follow.
