Lt. Col. William R. Notbohm

Lt. Col. William R. Notbohm, 91, of Fond du Lac, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, October 21, 2012. William was born June 14, 1921 in Sullivan, WI, son of Dr. DeLou R. and Matilda (Horn) Notbohm.

On February 12, 1943 William married Letitia McCambridge, the love of his life, of White Lake, WI.

During his 24 years of military service, Lt. Col. William Notbohm was awarded the Silver Star, 3 Bronze Stars for Valor, Combat Infantry Badge, 3 Purple Hearts, and the POW medal, among many other distinguished awards. His years of military service included WWII and the Korean War.

William is survived by Letitia, his wife of 69 years; three sons; William Richard III and wife Cindy of Pittsburgh, PA., Douglas Richard and wife Marcy of Eau Claire,  Peter Verner of Fond du Lac; three daughters, Jane Notbohm of Fond du Lac, Barbara Derlein of Houston, TX and Mary Forbes of Fond du Lac; grandchildren; Julie Daffin, Maryann Daffin, Timothy Williams, Jonathan Williams, Heather Notbohm, William Notbohm IV, Andrew Notbohm, Peter Forbes, Donald W. Lautenschlager, Susanna Blanchard, Peter W. Notbohm, Kristina Williams and twelve great grandchildren.

Private family services will be held at the Cross of Calvary Cremation Garden, in Fond du Lac at a future date.
