Lydia Wiegert

Lydia Wiegert, 93, of Fond du Lac, died Friday,
May 29, 2015, at Grancare Nursing and Rehabilitation.

 

She was born on October 19,
1921, in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska,
a daughter of John and Anna Goodschmidt Sturtz.

 

Lydia was a member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran
Church, Fond du Lac, and also at one time was a
member of the Gleaners.  Lydia was a
strong, remarkable woman who took great pride in raising her family.  She took on odd jobs such as babysitting and
assisting others.  She was a caregiver to
those who needed help and enjoyed baking, and sharing her goods with
people.  She also enjoyed canning and
gardening.  Lydia was a cancer survivor.

 

She is survived by four
children:  Armon Wiegert, Barbara
(Ronald) Langacker, Merinda Knutson, and Melita “Jane” Wiegert, all of Fond du Lac; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;
two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Leah Wirkus of Fond du Lac.

 

She was preceded in death by
her parents; an infant daughter, Margaret; a son, Ronald Wiegert; a
granddaughter, Kimberly Wiegert; a son-in-law, David Knutson; and 13 brothers
and sisters.

 

A memorial service will be
held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Mach Funeral Chapel &
Crematory, 31 East Division Street,
Fond du Lac
, with Rev.

Matthew Guse officiating.

 

The family will greet
relatives and friends on Thursday at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory from
9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

 

Inurnment will be in Rienzi Cemetery.
