Marian C. Karoses

Marian C. Karoses, (nee Rohlinger), 92, of Campbellsport, died Thursday, March 16 at Serenity Villa with her family by her side.  Marian was born on August 6, 1930, the daughter of the late Clarence and Cecelia (Foy) Rohlinger, the second of their 8 children.  She attended school in Campbellsport and graduated in June 1948.  Marian married John P. Karoses at St Matthews Catholic Church on May 5, 1951.  She was an active member of St Matthews Church, the Christian Women Society, Mission Sewing and helped at funeral dinners and Fall Festivals.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, always fussing in the kitchen to provide snacks.  She’ll also be remembered for the hundreds of batches of pretzel snacks she served and gifted.  Marian had an eye for floral design and made dozens of arrangements for family and friends.  Hardly a week would go by that she didn’t enjoy lunch at Ty’s place where she enjoyed her favorite sandwich, with extra crispy bacon!

Marian loved people and spent as much time as possible surrounding herself with family, friends and neighbors.  While raising her children, she worked several jobs in the community.  She was blessed to work 40+ years at the Ben Franklin store, where she made lifelong friends and was included on many buying trips for the Floral Dept.  After a short retirement she went back to work as a receptionist at St Joseph’s Convent.  These friends, along with her closeknit family, visited her religiously at home and during her stay at Serenity Villa.  Because of her sight loss, she counted on those visits and wasn’t shy about planning the next one before you left.  The family cannot thank everyone enough for helping to keep Marian entertained and make her last years as enjoyable as possible.  She loved the staff at Serenity Villa who took exceptional care of her and made her feel at home.

Marian is survived by her three children, Barbara (Kurt)  Vogesberg, Cindy (Chris) Kooiman and Randy (Colleen) Karoses; grandchildren Kevin (Lori) Vogelsberg, Lee (Becky) Vogelsberg, Kyle (Abby) Salter, Colin (Sarah) Salter, Cameron Salter, Kate (Tim Gill) Salter, Jamie (Joe) Bertsch, Sarah Jo (Michael) More and Maggie(Michael) Morgan; great grandchildren, Ben Vogelsberg, Grace Salter, Zoey Salter, Poemma Morgan, Marigold Morgan, Willa Morgan and Sylvee Morgan; brother-in-law Jim Karoses; siblings Alice Carpenter, Lucille Bassill, Dan (Donna) Rohlinger, Rose (Roger) Ramthun, and Joan (Syl) Neis; sister-in-law Arlene (Harold) Nothem.  She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
