Mariann Buechel, age 84 of Hilbert, died on October 7, 2020, at the home of Marilyn Stache, her  twin sister.  She was born March 4, 1936, at her parent’s home in Hilbert, daughter of the late Herman and Norma (Beil) Stecker.  On June 11, 1960, she married Clarence Buechel at Peace Church in Potter.  Mariann worked at the Foley aluminum plant in Chilton until her retirement after 46 years of dedication and farmed with her husband on their farm in the Town of Chilton.

Mariann was an accomplished seamstress making many wedding and bridesmaid’s dresses.  She also altered many bridal and prom dresses and other clothes for people.

Mariann was active in her church, Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church, in Potter.  Mariann’s personalty drew the youth of Peace Church in.  She taught middle school Sunday School class for many years,  helped with the Children’s choir, and encouraged young people to use their musical talents in church.  She was adopted by two of the children, Elisa and Emilia Callejón, whose paternal grandparents lived in Spain.  Her singing talents were brought to life as she formed the “Stecker Family Trio” spreading the love of Christ through music to her church and for the residents of area nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.  At Peace Church, she was well appreciated for her talents singing in the choir, providing songbooks for various groups in the congregation, playing the autoharp and Omnichord and utilizing her God given gifts to uplift the people around her.

Mariann was a pistol whose quiet, and piercing sense of humor kept all of her family on their toes. She was a woman whose stature was larger than life to those who knew her, and were lovingly cared for by her.

Survivors include her twin sister: Marilyn; her brother: Herman Stecker; her in-laws: Ambrose Lisowe, Evelyn (Jerome) Schleicher, Betty Buechel, Leonard (Donna) Buechel, Alvin (Jane) Buechel, & Rita (Lyle) Wingers.  She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
