Marie L. Steele

Marie Louise Steele, 94, passed away on March 2, 2021 at Adelaide Place in Fond du Lac. She was born on July 14, 1926 in Rogersville, WI to Verner and Hazel (Reschke) Wustrack. She graduated from Rosendale High School class of 1943.

Marie married Walter Steele on December 16, 1950 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Rogersville. Together, Marie and Walter, worked their family dairy farm. 

Marie’s passion was family; grandparents, parents, siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved reading, traveling, animals and especially spending time with her family. She had great pride in her family and enjoyed being involved in their lives.

She was the oldest living member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Rogersville, where she was baptized, confirmed, married and we will now gather for Marie’s funeral and the celebrating her life.

Marie is survived by her children, David (Ann) Steele of Appleton, Gregory and Mary of River Falls and Brenda Steele of Arvada, CO; grandchildren, Andrea (John) Kohlman, Kyle (Amber) Steele, Lindsay Welsh, Robert Welsh lll, Abby (Justin) Giguere and Rheanna Steele; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Dylan Steele.

She is further survived by her sisters, Elaine Franzen of Menominee Falls and Christine (David) Carrollo of Fond du Lac; sisters-in-law, Frances Wustrack of Rogersville and Helen Steele of Lakewood, CO; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Maire was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents; brother, Daniel Wustrack; and sisters, Janice Waldschmidt and Wilma Marshall.

Services: Marie’s family will greet relatives and friends for time of visitation on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 11:30 to 1:00 PM at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, N5680 Towne Rd, Rosendale, WI 54974. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM. Burial is at Rogersville Cemetery. For everyone’s health and well-being, masks are required.

Memorials in Marie’s name may be directed to Sisson’s Peony Garden’s in Rosendale.
