Marjorie A Salm
Chilton, WI

Marjorie A. Salm, age 81, of Chilton, died on Sunday, November 21, 2010, at the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. She was born May 29, 1929 in St. Anna, daughter of the late William & Jane (Cain) Zorn. She married Martin Salm, Jr. on October 27, 1948 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton. Marjorie wore many hats in life. She worked as a seamstress, owned a restaurant, worked for Knauf & Tesch, farmed, and took care of infants for the Cradle Project through St. Vincent Hospital. Her most treasured and rewarding occupation was that of housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her spouse, her family and the many grandchildren and great grandchildren that brought her so much joy. Marjorie was a strong Irish woman who was extremely proud of her heritage and carried it well. She was quite the spit-fire who made sure jobs and responsibilities were handled well with no slacking off. She also made sure to make time for fun; getting teased, teasing back, listening to polka music, playing cards, and playing Chinese Checkers were just a few ways that Marjorie enjoyed the presence of other people in her life. Her children, and all that knew her, had a fond respect for her; they knew that she was an excellent listener, always willing to offer support and strength to anyone who needed it. Marjorie also treasured her strong religious faith and her faith in St. Jude, the patron saint of the impossible. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, and volunteered numerous hours on Fridays at St. Vincent de Paul store in Hilbert. She is survived by her husband: Martin; her children: Jane (Bill) Schwalbach of Waukesha, Pat (LeRoy) Meyers of Chilton, Kathy (Herman) Joas of Green Bay, Nancy (Ken) Mueller of Chilton, Mark (Jean) Salm of Chilton, Paul (Judy) Salm of Brillion, David (Alexandria) Salm of Chilton, Ann (Mark) Rusch of Chilton, Barbara Salm of Knoxville, TN, Mary Jude Salm of Prescott, WI, Phillip (Delia) Salm of Chilton; 38 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: William & Jane; her step-mother: Dora Zorn; infant children: Margaret Mary, Samuel Peter & Mary Eva; and a step-brother: Donald (Loretta) Burtard. Funeral service will be at 11:30 AM on Friday, November 26, 2010 at Holy Rosary (1724 Madison St.) in New Holstein with the Rev. Harry Berryman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Chilton. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, November 26, 2010 when family prayers will be held. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Marjorie A. Salm for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and St. Jude’s Hospital. The family would like to thank Dr. Goggins and his staff, Dr. Tipler and his staff, and the entire staff of the Calumet Medical Center in Chilton for all of the loving and compassionate care you provided to Marjorie and her entire family.
