Marlene Rose (nee Melius)
Marlene Rose (nee Melius) surrounded by family passed away peacefully on June 14, 2013 at Hospice Home of Hope after a courageous battle with COPD and a broken hip. She was born December 31, 1937 in Fond du Lac, WI, a daughter of LaVerne and Imogene Welch Melius. She married Wayne H. Rose on November 26, 1955 and raised her family in Fond du Lac and provided a wonderful loving home for many years for her father- in- law Henry (Hank) Rose.
In her youth she was an accomplished platform diver and majorette and would twirl her baton for family into her sixties. Marlene didn’t invest as much time outside the home, as her immediate family was always considered her main priority. She was the consummate homemaker known for her exquisite baked goods and flawless sewing creations, resulting in her husband and children being the “best dressed family in town”. In her younger years she enjoyed snowmobiling, snow skiing, golf, bowling, and boating. Marlene welcomed many to her home in Fond du Lac and Naples, Florida, always entertaining with style and glitz. In the past two years Marlene handled her declining health as she did with most things in life – a great sense of humor and could throw a zinger with the best of them. Marlene was a member of the Church of Peace-United Church of Christ, Lady Elks, Sigma, and various golf leagues in the area. Marlene was a devoted wife and mother who will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Surviving is her husband Wayne H. Rose, daughters Debra Rose and DeeAnn Rose of Fond du Lac, Brett Rose and (significant other Gina Osterkorn,) Chicago, Il, son Jeffrey and (Patty) Rose of Knoxville, TN brother Keith (Donna) Melius of Fond du Lac, sister Karen (Kenneth) Rupp of Glendale, AZ, sister-in-law Velma Olsen of Hartford, WI., nephew Mark Weller of Pewaukee, WI, niece Wendy (Kurt) Hintz of Hartford WI, nephew Keith(Diane) Rupp of Glendale, AZ, and nephew Jerry Melius of Fond du Lac, and other great nieces and nephews.
