Marvin N. Vande Voort

Marvin N. Vande Voort, age 74, of Chilton, WI, passed away in his wife’s loving arms on Nov. 17, 2018. He was born on July 14, 1944, son of the late Joseph and Helen (Hermsen) Vande Voort. Marv married Judith (Van Deraa) Wilson on November 28, 1984, in Green Bay, WI.

Marv started his working career at a very young age working on his Aunt Grace’s farm. He then worked various jobs at the Canning Factory, Jim Ecker Construction, Grogan Ready Mix, and Tecumseh Products for a short time. Marv worked 33 years for Calumet County Highway Dept., where he retired in 2002.  Retirement was no place for a man on the go. He soon began plowing snow for the Town of Brothertown, and delivering seed for PiP SEEDS,  Partners in Production. But his true passion was working on the Martin Lisowe Farm, even if that was just going over for shop talk.

Marv was a kind man who would lend a hand to anyone in need, whether it be family, friends, or even strangers. There wasn’t anything in this world he couldn’t fix or find a way to make it work.

Marv was a retired Stockbridge firefighter. He enjoyed gambling at any casino he and Judy could stop at. For many years Marv and Judy attended Country Music festivals with family and friends. He also enjoyed weekends camping, where he could be found doing the shake of the day and playing “sparkle”.

Marv is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Judy; his children: Yvonne (Dave) Lisowe, Dawn Schuster, Doreen (Rob) Nisleit; grandchildren: Bryce Hammen, Tonya (Rocky) Tasch, Tim (Krista) Lisowe, Claire and Grace Schuster, Joshua and Karlie Nisleit; great-grandchildren: Ryan Hass and Makayla Tasch; sister-in-law: Arlene Vande Voort; and brother-in-law: Joe Arnoldussen. He is further survived by Judy’s family: Barbara (Randall) Moehr, Theresa, Leona, Phyllis, Jerome, Joyce, and Gerald (Jeanne) VanDeraa; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mike Lisowe and Don Bonner.

Marv was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Helen; mother and father-in-law: Martin and Minnie Van Deraa; stepson: Dean Wilson; brothers: Joe, Robert, Roger, and Leroy (Sandra) Vande Voort; his stepsister: Kathy Arnoldussen; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Rose Ann (Donald) Huben, Elizabeth (John) Schmitz, Donald, Jim, Marvin, Raynie and Martin Van Deraa; and one great-granddaughter: Megan Hass.

Funeral services are set for 11:00am on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday, November 20, and again at the funeral home from 10:00am until 10:45am on Wednesday, November 21. There will be an open mic following Tuesday’s visitation to share stories of Marv, followed by a prayer service. Burial will take place at 2:00pm on Wednesday, November 21, at Holy Cross Cemetery (1298 Desnoyer St.) in Kaukauna.

The family wishes to thank The Vince Lombardi Cancer Care Team including Dr. Nawas, MD, Ashley and Michelle of his palliative care team, as well as Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Marv and his family.

A special thank you to Doreen, Lori, and Sherry for all the care and love they gave Marvin throughout his journey.
