Mary Agnes Zangl Dreifuerst

Mary Agnes Zangl Dreifuerst, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, was reunited with her heavenly Father on May 8, 2014.

Born on April 19, 1923, Mary lived her entire life in Fond du Lac. She found the love of her life in Marvin C. Dreifuerst, and on June 1, 1949 she became his bride. They had eight children and together they forged a close knit, loving family by demonstrating that “love” is an action.

Mary will be remembered for her devotion to her Catholic faith and for the boundless love that she poured out for her husband, her children and her grandchildren. Although there will not be any more delicious loaves of banana bread to share, the “stutzing” of eggs at Easter or fishing with her until the storms roll in, there is comfort in knowing that Mary will get that “one last cast” with her Lord.

Her living legacy includes one son Mark (Marcia) Dreifuerst of Fond du Lac; seven daughters, Jean Dreifuerst of Fond du Lac, Ann (Gary) Cartwright of Waukesha), Julie Unferth of Ocala, FL, Laura (Larry) Richardson of Fond du Lac, Clare Ferdinand of Fond du Lac, Jane (Scott) Leland of Whitefish Bay and Paula (Rod) Marques of Ocala, FL; 16 grandchildren, Ryan and Andrew Cartwright, Austin and Stephen Dreifuerst, Kate McGrath, Brittany, Jessica, Catherine and Lauren Richardson, Eric, Luke and Stephen Ferdinand, Isaac Leland, and Nicole, Alex and Jennifer Marques; many beloved nieces and nephews and their families; other relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband Marvin; her parents Mary and Bart Zangl; two brothers, Ray and George Zangl; two sisters, Lucille Funk and Esther Nehmer, and her granddaughter, Marissa.

You are invited to join in the remembrance of Mary and a celebration of her well-lived life on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at St. Mary’s Church, 59 E. Merrill Ave.  Visitation will be held at 8:30am followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Holy Family Parish.
