Mary Ann Brickle

Sadly our mother Mary Ann Brickle, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 29, 2012 at her home. Mary Ann was born on October 29, 1931 to Henry and Leona (Braun) Shea of Armstrong, WI.

Mary Ann was a graduate of St. Mary’s Springs Academy in 1949.  On November 6, 1950 she was married to James A Brickle at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Armstrong.

Mary Ann was an active member of the Genealogical Society where she proved herself to be a Daughter of the American Revolution and it led her to Ireland and Germany while researching the family history.  She was very proud of her published genealogy book, Relatively Speaking, on the Shea and Braun families.

Mary Ann was involved with the former Fond du Lac Shamrock Club and was Irish Person of the Year in 1990, a recognition that she was very proud to receive.

In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, all Wisconsin sports, especially attending Brewer’s baseball games with her son Kyle and watching her beloved Green Bay Packers.

Mary Ann served proudly as Fond du Lac County Register of Deeds for eighteen years and retired in 2001.  She coveted a good political discussion.  She was passionate about protecting the services and programs that assist those in need, older adults and the rights of women. Most of all she loved being a mother enjoying family trips and dance recitals.

She taught her children the values of good citizenship, service, a strong work ethic and she provided an inspiration on how to live a good, full life.  For those who knew her, they will miss that twinkle in her eye, her quick wit and kind ways.  The memories of Mary Ann are gifts that her family and friends will carry with them always.

She is survived by her children, Michael S. (Judy) Brickle, Brian J. Brickle, Colleen M (Dennis Cummings) Brickle,  Mona  A. (Jerry) Tennessen, Sheila B. (Dennis) Seefeld, Maureen E. Brickle and Kyle P. Brickle; one sister, Catherine (Roy) McCormick and one brother, Bill (Lisa) Shea; eight grandchildren; and many relatives and lifelong friends; her pets, Shea and Smokey.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by James A. Brickle, one sister Helen and brother-in-law Robert Landreman.
