Mary E. Rentmeester
Mary E. Rentmeester, 91, of the Town of Mitchell, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice, Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. She was born in Fond du Lac on April 21, 1925, the daughter of Martin F. and Mary K. (Murray) O’Hearn, Sr. On April 23, 1949 she married Louis Rentmeester at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Fond du Lac. Mary attended St. Patrick Grade School and St. Mary’s Springs Academy and received her BS degree from Oshkosh State Teacher’s College. Mary taught in Sheboygan, Plymouth and Campbellsport Schools.
Mary was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Parish, Eden, former president of Plymouth AARP, Trustee of St. Michael’s Church in Parnell, where for 25 years she was also kitchen supervisor. She was a Peer Friends Visitor for 27 years, on the Aging Advisor Board of Sheboygan, County, Treasurer of Milwaukee Association of Catholic Women (MACCW), helped seniors at Plymouth Senior Center, was Treasurer of Shepherd of the Hills conference of St. Vincent de Paul and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Mary also enjoyed gardening, traveling with her friend Flossie and planning family “get togethers” and baking homemade bread for her children. She was most proud of her 8 children and their lives and accomplishments.
Survivors include her children; Joan (Mark) Hetzel of Kewaskum, Carol (John) Frey of Hartford, Dean (Jeanne) Rentmeester of Fond du Lac, Margie Afifi of Madison, Jerry (Roujean) Rentmeester of Fond du Lac, Mark (Marge) Rentmeester of Plymouth, Rita Rentmeester of Madison and Theresa (Robert) Howell of Bloomington, MN, 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a step-grandson, sisters-in-law Rosemary O’Hearn and Janet Rentmeester, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis in 1984, an infant grandson, her brother Martin O’Hearn Jr., and infant brother Francis, and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 28th at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Hills, W1562 County Rd. B, Eden. Rev. Mark Jones will officiate and cremation will follow with inurnment at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Town of Mitchell at a later date.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 28th from 9:00 AM to time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
