Mary Edith Sampson

Mary Edith Sampson, 81, a resident of Harbor Haven Nursing Home, was carried on Angel’s wings to our Lord on October 22, 2012.

The Lord blessed us with her life to George and Frances Bayer Hacker on February 11, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She married Donald A. Sampson on February 18, 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1999.  Mary and Donald resided in Fond du Lac where Mary was a factory worker and an Avon lady until her retirement.  Mary and Donald raised three daughters and two sons:  Cindy Sampson-Willey Vandeslunt, Cheryl (Bob Lefeber) Millay, Colleen (Edward) Preininger, Michael (Wendy) Sampson, and Marvin (Barbara) Sampson.

Mary was an amazing woman to all that knew her.  She had a smile and a song for everyone that passed her way.  Though her smile is gone forever, and her hand we cannot touch, we still have many memories of the one we loved so much.  Her memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part.  God has you in His keeping, we have you in our hearts.  You will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Her Catholic faith and family were number one in her life, followed by her interests of knitting, writing poetry, music and singing.  She belonged to the Writers Club and in 1986, she named the craft shop at the Senior Center, “This ‘n That”.  She also loved to tease her caregivers at the nursing home.

She is survived by four children; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Gerard (Marie) Hacker.

Mary was greeted in heaven by her loving parents; her former husband, Don; her daughter, Cindy; a grandson, Steve Willey; two brothers: Anthony (Joan) Hacker and Lawrence (Pearl) Hacker.

The family wishes to express a special Thank You to the staff at the Health Care Center for all the years of loving care, devotion, and compassion to our mother, Mary.

I am home now please do not cry for me.  I will pray for all of you.  Good bye, Good luck, God bless and Protect you all.
