Mary Jean Hageny-Freund-Trindal

Mary Jean Hageny-Freund-Trindal, age 76, of Chilton, died on Monday, July 20, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton surrounded by her family. She was born July 27 1938 in Rhinelander, daughter of the late Norbert “Nubs” & Julia (Thompson) Hageny. Mary was married to Duane Freund; he preceded her in death on March 1, 1992. Early in her life, Mary Jean worked at the Altona, Central House of Chilton, and the Chilton Hotel. She later began working at the Chilton Post Office until she transferred to the Kaukauna Post Office where she worked until her retirement at the age of 55. Following retirement, she moved to the Waupaca area where she worked at a thrift store and could focus more of her time reading and crocheting. She was a founding member of the “Have You Hugged Your Children Today?” campaign and was a strong advocate for the rights and care of children. It was also because of her love of service to others that Mary Jean would scour the internet looking for great deals so she could donate items to local charities and people who were in need in the local area. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion and found it a privilege to be able to pray for people in their needs. She was a fan of NASCAR, the Milwaukee Brewers, and was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers as she proudly called herself a stockholder and was overjoyed by Brett Favre’s recent induction into the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame. Survivors include her children: Dan Freund, Carolee Herrick, Katie (John) Rezachek, Tim Freund, Holly Freund and her special friend, Paul Fredrich; 9 grandchildren: Sandy Freund and her fiancé Chris Rohr, Jason (Amanda) Herrick, Heather (Travis) Benter, Ashley Herrick & special friend, Justin Meyer, Joshua Herrick, Jonathon Herrick & Fiancée Marie Vigue, Beth Freund, Zachary Schmitz, & Samuel Schmitz; 7 great grandchildren: Alayna Freund, Maddox & Logan Herrick, Cayden Wilke-Benter, Coltin Benter, Corbin Benter, & Ariana Herrick; siblings: Norma Riemer, Nancy (Mike) Hobbs, Tom (Mary) Hageny, Jim (Carla) Hageny, Donna Colburn & special friend “Smith”; and her in-laws: Larry Rappley, Bonnie (Mike) Brievogel, Lloyd Jones, Mary Ann Freund, Delores (Dennis) Blake, Jerry Winchell, Beth Hageny, and Larry Colburn.
