Mary Kehrmeyer

Mary Kehrmeyer, 78, of Waupun, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at her home.

 

Mary was born December 24, 1934 in East Waupun, the daughter of Elmer and Lulu Belle Moore Vanderkin, Sr. She attended Chester School, a one room school, and graduated from Waupun High School in 1952. On November 26, 1955 she married Art Docter at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The couple resided in Waupun for most of their married lives. Mary was employed at Ideal Shoe Factory in Waupun and later at Electri-Wire in Waupun from which she retired. She was seasonally employed at Mischler Berry Farm for several years and also worked at A Turn Back In Time. Mary was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waupun and was on the council at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Springvale. On December 30, 2005 she married Donald Kehrmeyer in Fond du Lac. They continued to live in Waupun all their married lives. Mary’s house was open to everyone. She enjoyed having the family over for Christmas Eve. Mary made a great difference in the lives of her nieces and nephews.

 

Mary is survived by her husband, Don Kehrmeyer of Waupun; three step-children, Steven (Cheryl) Kehrmeyer of Sunland, CA, Staci (Jave) Kane of Livermore, CA, Randy (Cheryl) Kehrmeyer of Valrico, FL; step-grandchildren, Shaun, Kaitlyn, Elijah, Audrey, Ryan, and Jake; sisters, Phyllis Smedema of Waupun and Priscilla Engstrom of Random Lake, WI; two brothers, Ted (Beth) Vanderkin of Waupun and Dave (Nancy) Vanderkin of Waupun; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy Vanderkin, Jerrianne Vanderkin, and Helen Vanderkin, all of Waupun; Earl (Betty) Kehrmeyer of Fond du Lac, Vernon (Catherine) Kehrmeyer of LeRoy; Genevieve Luedtke of Kewaskum, Rosemary Pabich of Menomonee Falls, Kathie (Robert) Daugherty of Wilmington, NC, Pat Kehrmeyer of Fond du Lac, Jim (Marie) Docter, Gordon (Sandy) Docter, Joe (Sandy) Docter, Evie (Gerald) Berndt, and Fabian Nighbor; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and abundance of friends.

 

Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Art Docter; brothers, John E. Vanderkin, Larry Vanderkin, and Bill Vanderkin; a sister, Jean Taeffner; a nephew, Johnny Vanderkin; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clarence Vande Zande, Charles Taeffner, Bob Engstrom, Francis Kehrmeyer, Adeline and Carl Lookman, Rosemary and Hubert Raymond, and Beverly Nighbor.

 

 

Funeral services for Mary Kehrmeyer will be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waupun with Rev. Michael Wild officiating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waupun.  Friends and relatives of Mary Kehrmeyer may call on the family on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

 

Memorials will be accepted in memory of Mary which will be directed to helping our youth.
