Mary VanVleet

Mary VanVleet, 88, of Fond du Lac, entered into eternal life on Saturday, July 05, 2014 at the Hospice Home of Hope.  Mary was born in Belding Michigan on July 18, 1925, a daughter of William and Mary (Sedlacek) Skopec.

On June 19, 1948 she married Charles VanVleet at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Belding, MI.

Mary is a graduate of the Western Michigan University School of Occupational Therapy.  She is a member of Holy Family Catholic Community and was formerly a member of St. Louis Church.  Mary was active in the Church as a lector, communion distributor, member of the Christian Women’s Society and Bible Study.  Mary also volunteered her time in visiting the patients at St. Agnes Hospital.  Her faith was strong and an excellent example to all who knew and loved her.

She enjoyed camping with her family, bus tours and trips to local casinos on the Jim and Linda’s Lakeview Restaurant busses.

Mary is survived by one son, Steven (Lilian) of Champaign IL; two daughters, Barbara (John) Meyers of Elverta CA and Julia (fiancé Mike Schultz) VanVleet of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren, Nathaniel and Amanda VanVleet, Amy Waltrip and Craig Meyers; five great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Parker; other relatives and friends; and dog, Brodie.

Preceding Mary in death are her parents; Charlie, her husband of 63 years; one brother and two sisters.

Visitation:  The family will receive relatives and friends at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac on Monday, July 7, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. There is also visitation on Tuesday, July 8, at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac, from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM.

Services:  At 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 8, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Family Church. Cremation will follow these traditional services with inurnment at Rienzi Cemetery.
