Maynard E. Chadwick Jr.

Maynard E. Chadwick, Jr., 89, of Oakfield, was called home to the loving arms of his beloved Lord and Savior on June 12, 2021, at Hospice Home of Hope.

Maynard was born on April 30, 1932, the son of Maynard, Sr. and Rosetta (Plonske) Chadwick. He graduated from Oakfield High School, class of 1950. He married Caroline Meyn on July 21, 1956, at Church of Peace.

At the age of 19, Maynard joined the United States Air Force and served from 1951-1955 in the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post 8092. He was a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 139.

Maynard enjoyed motorcycling and was a member of Fond du Lac HOG chapter. He enjoyed collecting antique tractors. In his later years, he enjoyed cruising around Oakfield in his truck with his basset hound, and visiting friends. He was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

Maynard had one of the greatest honors of his life, when he was chosen to participate in Old Glory Honor Flight Mission 37 to Washington D.C. on September 14, 2016. The family would like to thank Dave Schroeder for being the best chaperone to our Dad, and helping him enjoy every minute of this once in a lifetime experience.

Maynard is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Caroline; their children, Deborah Clark of Waupun, Sandy (Mark) Ryan of Oakfield, Todd (Lori) Chadwick of Fond du Lac and Craig Chadwick of Oakfield; grandchildren, Amber (Ryan) McMahon, Andrea Clark, Andy (Jenny) Chadwick, Johnna Ryan, Mitchell (fiancée Jordan) Chadwick and Brett (Lisabeth) Ryan; great-grandchildren, Adrienne, Alden, Helen and Evelyn; brothers-in-law, Jerry Schwefel and Kenneth Meyn; his furry companion, Maddie. He is also survived by nieces, cousins, other relatives and many lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard, Sr. and Rosetta Chadwick; his sister, Patsy Schwefel; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Erich and Laura Meyn and a sister-in-law, Dynie Meyn.

The family expresses deep gratitude to Pastor Matthew Schwartz for being a constant source of support with his visits, prayers and words of comfort.

VISITATION: Friends may call from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 245 S. 2nd Street, Oakfield.

SERVICE: Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew Schwartz officiating. Burial to follow at Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.

Memorial donations in memory of Maynard may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Old Glory Honor Flight or Agnesian Hospice.
