Melvin A. Bohlman, age 92, of Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on January 25, 1924 in Fond du Lac, the son of Alexander and Borghild (Anderson) Bohlman. Melvin was a 1943 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army stationed in the Philippines and Japan. On May 3, 1947 he married the love of his life Betsy Wenninger at St. Patrick’s Rectory. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2002.Following his military service in 1946, Melvin worked at the Fond du Lac Post office as a window clerk retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the V.F.W., and Holy Family Church. He was an usher for many years at St. Joseph’s Church and at Holy Family. Melvin also volunteered with Loaves and Fishes. Melvin took great pride in his home and his Buick and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He had a deep love for his entire family and especially his wife Betsy for their fifty-five years of marriage.
SURVIVORS: three daughters, Sharon (John) Ashenbrenner of Menasha, Mary Race of Fond du Lac, Diane (Dan) Palecek of Fond du Lac; six grandchildren, Sandra (Mark Schultz) Ashenbrenner, Debra (Ben) Heinen, James (Nicci Baumann) Race Jr, John Race, Thomas Giese, and Robert Giese; five great-grandchildren, J.T. Schultz, Kinsley and Aubrey Heinen, Wren and Olive Race. He was preceded in death by his wife; and one son Daniel.
VISITATION: Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 9-11 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church-Holy Family, 200 S. Peters Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. FUNERAL: Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct military graveside services.
