Michael J. Mortimer

Michael J. Mortimer, age 51, died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee after a brief battle with cancer. Mike was surrounded by his family and friends. He was born November 16, 1963 the son of Raymond “Pete” Mortimer and the late Mildred (Buechel) Mortimer. Mike graduated from Chilton High School in 1982. He married Patricia Diane Coggins on September 22, 2001.

Mike was a master at wood restoration and worked at Williamson Restoration, Inc. for over 25 years. Mike was an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing and hunting. Mike’s true passion was fishing; it didn’t matter whether he was in Alaska catching salmon and halibut, Wisconsin reeling in perch and walleye, or at his home on Lake Allatoona fishing for crappie. Mike enjoyed being outdoors and all that nature had to offer. He took his German shepherd Gunther for daily walks to the lake. When not at the lake you would find Mike feeding birds, tending his garden, or in his shop working on his vehicles.

Mike’s warm smile and contagious laugh brought happiness to those who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mike will be greatly missed and remembered fondly as a person who lived each moment to its fullest, and never held back from the joys of life.
