Michael M. Bangart

Michael M. Bangart, age 75, of Chilton, died on February 22, 2020, following a snowmobile accident, at the Ascension Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, Wisconsin. He was born February 3, 1945, in Stockbridge, son of the late Harold and Lioba Bangart. On June 18, 1966, he married Virginia Schwarz at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein.



Michael belonged to Good Shepherd Catholic Church and was a member of the Calumet County NFO. He was a Renk Seed Dealer for over 20 years. He was a jack-of-all-trades, working as an electrician, plumber, carpenter, and for Tecumseh for 26 years. Through it all he was a farmer and he loved farming. He liked being in his shop working on different things, especially his cars. He was always up for a game of cards, especially Sheepshead. He enjoyed the outdoors – gardening, snowmobiling, and four-wheeling. More than anything, he loved spending time with his children, grandkids, and great-grandkids. 



Michael is survived by his wife, Virginia; children: Paul Bangart (Cindy Perkins), Theresa “Terri” (Fredrick) Kopitzke, William (Cindy) Bangart, and Michael Bangart II (Denise Ayala); grandchildren: Andrew Bangart, Donald Bangart, Amber (Jason) Ader, Mathias (Brittany) Kopitzke, Austin Kopitzke, Nicholas Kopitzke, Krystal (Joshua) Klebs, and Jeremy Bangart; great-grandchildren: Lily Klebs, Jase Klebs, and Everett Klebs; sisters: Rozita “Zeedy” (Donald) Huebner, Pat (Merl) Halbach, Liz (Tom) Stahl, and Cheryl Hildebrandt; brothers: Charles (Julie) Bangart, Richard (Janice) Bangart, Arthur (Karen) Bangart, Larry (Linda) Bangart, Norman (Theresa) Bangart, Tim (Vicki) Bangart, Lyle (Amy) Bangart, and Mark (Heidi) Bangart; sisters-in-law: Karen (Tom) Walter, Sandra Christel, Sue (Dave) Berg, Janet (Mike) Payne, and Pat Schwarz; and a brother-in-law: Roger (Donna) Schwarz.



Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lioba; a grandchild: Nicole Bangart; Virginia’s parents: Clarence and Lucille Schwarz; and brothers-in-law: Jim Hildebrandt and Gerald Schwarz. 



A funeral service is set for 6:00pm on Friday, February 28, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton. Friends may call from 3:00pm until 5:45pm at the funeral home on the day of the service.
