Mitchell Kounelis

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we acknowledge the loss of Mitchell Kounelis, who passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.  Mostly missed will be his kind and giving outlook on life which drew many people to him.  Everyone that knew him loved him.  His strong willed spirit will carry on elsewhere.

Mitch was born on September 9, 1989 in Fond du Lac to Kevin and Lauri (Lefeber) Kounelis.  He attended school and graduated from Fond du Lac High School.  Mitchell pursued varying job interests and had recently started a new job as a union machine operator.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, softball, gaming, and music (playing both acoustic and electric guitar).  He loved a good ongoing debate and had an awesome wit with a dry sense of humor.  He could make everyone laugh, loved being with kids, and had the kindest soul.

He is survived by his parents, Lauri Kounelis and Kevin (Nancy) Kounelis; his brother, Kyle Kounelis; maternal grandmother, Patsy Lefeber; aunts and uncles, Patti (Rich) Toll, Steph (Brett) Wachendorf, Chris (Tiffany) Kounelis, Stacy (Tim) Seeman, Lynn John, Lois (Tom) Leu, Liann (Kurt) Steinbarth, and Lisa (Jake) Liedke; many cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald Lefeber and his paternal grandparents, Alex and Judy Kounelis.

A celebration of Mitch’s life will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 at Oven Island West, Lakeside Park from 4:00 – 8:00 PM with a memorial service at 6:00 PM.  Cremation has taken place.

Services are in the care of Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 North Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Additional information and guestbook can be found at ueckerwitt.com
