Norman Abitz

Norman Clifford Frank Abitz, 89, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Harbor Haven. He was the youngest of nine children born to Frank and Clara (Broehm) Abitz on September 23, 1931 in Byron. On July 13, 2003, he married Lois Callies at the Galloway House church. He was a life-long member of Church of Peace.

Mr. Abitz was employed at Ely’s, Quicfrez Inc., Reuping Leather Co. and became self-employed in the investment business. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed collecting antique toys, travelling and backing the Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Bucks and the Green Bay Packers. Along with Mel Heller, he was instrumental in starting a ROMEO club (retired old men eating out) at the Fond du Lac Senior Center.

Survivors include his wife, step daughter-in-law Mary Callies, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Harold (Bernice), Wilmer (Agnes), Raymond (Evelyn), Victor (Emma), LeRoy (Ethel), Lester (Marion), and Leonard, one sister Viola (Clifford) Lange and a stepson Jay Callies.

Visitation: Norman’s family invites relatives and friends for visitation on Saturday, June 19th, 2021 at Church of Peace, 158 S. Military Road, Fond du Lac, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.

Service: A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM following visitation, officiated by Pastor Stephen Stepp.

Entombment: Norman will be laid in his final resting place at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum – Ledgeview Memorial Park on Monday, June 21st, 2021 at 11:00 AM.

Memorials are appreciated to the Church of Peace or the Fond du Lac Humane Society.
