Norman H. Bertram

Norman H. Bertram, 80, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully, after many years of health issues, July 12, 2022 with his loving family by his side. He was born December 22, 1941 to the late Alfonse and Juliana (Wettstein) Bertram, Fond du Lac.

Norm graduated from St. Mary’s Springs Academy class of ‘60, and furthered his education at UW Oshkosh.

He proudly served with the Army National Guard as a medic.

He retired from Mercury Marine after 35 years during which he was a member of the International Association of Machinists Local Lodge 1947. He was a Fraternal Member of the FDL Labor Council and served many roles, including Safety Chairman, in the Labor Union. Norm enjoyed his involvement with the Annual Labor Day Parade and Picnic. Mercury honored Norm as being “someone who is passionate about genuine dedication, not driven by the glory of service but by his sense of doing what is right.”

Also known as Stormin’ Norman, his love for cars began as a young man. He was a member of the Rev Masters Car Club, and continued with his love of cars throughout his life. He also enjoyed watching baseball and football, and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.

As a proud & loving father, he looked forward to being with his daughter, Jill, and her dogs. He enjoyed spending time with family & friends over the years. Norm shared his life with Kathy and they spent many happy years together. He was known as being a “gentle” man, with a warm smile and a good heart with a great sense of humor. One of his favorite things to say while making a toast for birthdays and holidays was “Happy Happy.”

Norm is survived by his beloved partner, Kathy Krebsbach; his loving daughter, Jillayne (Dexter Sattler) Bertram; siblings, Kathryn (Joe) Schumacher, Ruth (Eric) Schumacher; Roger (Carla) Bertram; sister-in-law, Susan Bertram; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh for their outstanding care and compassion.

“Normie” will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him. He wouldn’t like saying goodbyes, instead he found comfort in saying ….. “Later.”
