Paul G. Mahnke

Paul G. Mahnke, 103, of Fond du Lac and formerly of Manitowoc, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born April 12, 1915 in Manitowoc, the son of Reinhold and Frieda Berlin Mahnke. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1933. Paul worked in his father’s grocery store before attending a semester at UW Madison. He married Gladys Tills on June 6, 1938 and she preceded him in death on May 5, 2010. Paul worked for his father from 1938 – 1941, the shipyard in Manitowoc from 1941 – 1945, Geo Peterson Sheet Metal from 1945 – 1950, and retired in 1979 from Heiden Sheet Metal. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Sheet Metal Worker International Association Local Union 18, Golden K, Elks Lodge Post 687, YMCA, and Visually Impaired Support Group.

He is survived by his son, Chuck (partner, Jan Adelman) Mahnke of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Dr. Jennifer) Mahnke of Vancouver, WA, Timothy (Jennifer) Mahnke of Ohio, Lisa Goodman of Ohio, Deborah (Pete) Micolichek of Fond du Lac, and Christine (Bryan) Doran of Ohio; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert; brother, Leroy (Esther) Mahnke; sister, Laverne (Al) Jansky; and sister-in-law, Bernice Mueller.

At Paul’s request cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc.
