Peter A. Zacherl

Peter Andrew
Zacherl, 55, passed away as the result of an ATV accident on January 21, 2019. He
was born on November 26, 1963 in San Fernando Valley, California to Louis G.
Zacherl and Mary L. (Indermuehle) Zacherl-Bohlman.

Peter was
the 5th generation owner of Zacherl Funeral Home. At an early age,
Pete was helping his father and grandfather with the family business. Peter graduated
high school in 1981 at St. Mary’s Springs and graduated from the University of
Minnesota in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science.

While
attending UW-Fond du Lac, Pete met the love of his life, Jennifer Nieman. They
were united in marriage at Immanuel Trinity Church on August 5, 1989. Together
they were blessed with two children, Daniel and Claire.

Peter
enjoyed the outdoors and being in God’s creation more than anything else,
whether in the woods, on the lake or especially, mowing the lawn at the funeral
home. His laugh was one-of-a-kind and infectious. Peter was the kind of man who
would not want a long obituary. He’d say, “If people knew me, then they already
know this stuff. It doesn’t need to be in print.”

Pete’s
career as a funeral director was only one facet of the way he gave of himself.
He cared about the Fond du Lac community and cared for others within the
community in countless ways. In an effort to support his community, Peter
served on many Boards of Directors, and was a member of several service and
fraternal organizations. He was a past president and member of Noon Rotary, including
a recipient of Rotary’s esteemed Paul Harris Fellow Award. Pete would give help
and assist wherever it was needed, more often than not, without being asked or
expecting anything in return.

Peter was a
member and strong supporter of the Gratitude Club in Fond du Lac. He had a generous
heart full of com
passion and believed that everyone deserved love and a second
chance.

Peter leaves
behind his loving wife, Jennifer, children, Daniel (Sabrina Butler) and Claire,
his mother, Mary, and his dog, Maisy, all of Fond du Lac. He is further
survived
by four brothers, Louis (Kathy)
Zacherl of Broomfield, CO, John (Susan) Zacherl of Fond du Lac, Michael (Julie)
Zacherl of Hancock, WI, and Matthew (Melanie) Zacherl of Fond du Lac;
parents-in-law, Ron and Nancy Nieman, sister-in-law, Julie (John) Lamancusa,
brother-in-law, Mike (Joy) Nieman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many,
many friends.
