Randall Ver Hage

Randall “Randy” Ver Hage, 69, of Waupun, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in Bluffton, SC.


Randy was born February 1, 1949 in Beaver Dam, WI the son of Lawrence and Henrietta Bossenbroek Ver Hage.  Randy attended Central Wisconsin Christian Schools and graduated in 1967. Randy enlisted in the U.S. Army for 3 years, having served in Korea. On October 14, 1972 he married Janet VerHoven in Clifton, NJ. Following their marriage the couple moved to Waupun. Randy worked in the grocery business most of his life, having worked for Hull’s Shop Rite and became a partner in the business which later changed over to Piggly Wiggly, and retired September 1, 2017. Randy enjoyed family time on Tuttle Lake, golfing with friends in Waupun and Hilton Head. His grandchildren meant the world to him. Randy was active in the community, having served on the Waupun Memorial Hospital Board, Central Wisconsin Christian School Board, and the Rock River Country Club. Randy was a life-time member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6709 in Waupun and a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Waupun where he served as elder and deacon.


Randy is survived by his wife, Janet Ver Hage of Waupun; two daughters: Cira Ver Hage and her husband Shane Berry-Wright of Milwaukee, and Becky and her husband Joe Lehman of Waupun; 5 grandchildren: Gabriel and Maxwell Berry-Wright, Gavyn Ver Hage, Amerie Bednarek, and Alexis Lehman; two brothers: Donald (Mary) Ver Hage of Beaver Dam and Tom (Laurel) Ver Hage of Naples, FL; three sisters: Eleanor (Alfred) Klevino of Stillwater, OK, Pat (Howard) Loomans of Waupun, and Barbara (Dick) Heeringa of Waupun; and nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by a brother, Harlyn Ver Hage; and his parents, Lawrence and Henrietta Ver Hage.


Funeral services for Randy Ver Hage will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Waupun with Al Venhuizen officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. American Legion Post 210 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6709 Honor Guard will provide military rites.


The family suggest memorials be directed to Central Wisconsin Christian Schools or a charity of your choice.
