Rev. Norman Bruce Haan

Rev. Norman Bruce Haan, 83, one of God’s faithful
servants, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 20,
2013.

 

Norman was born in Grand Rapids, MI on March 10, 1930
the son of Fred and Jeane De Boer Haan.  Norman attended Seymour Christian
School and Grand Rapids Christian High School.  In March of 1951 he married
Joyce Meyners. He started out working at his father’s print shop, then was
called into the ministry and went to Calvin College and Seminary where he
received his Masters of Divinity degree. Norman was always looking for
opportunities to serve the Lord.  He led many catechism classes, societies, and
Bible studies. He shepherded churches in Volga, SD,
Flint, MI,
Phoenix, AZ,
Waupun, WI,
Worthington, MN,
and Bakersfield, CA.  Norman was involved with Habitat for
Humanity, taught seminary students in Ukraine, and taught Bible in the
Philippines.

 

Norman and Joyce were blessed with six children, Norma
Voss, Fred (Cheryl) Haan, Rich (Marsha) Haan, Tom (Marilynn) Haan, Brenda
Kamphuis, and Kevin (Angela) Haan; 20 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce
Van Vels, Ruth Kok, and Carol (Jerry) Velthouse; and two sisters-in-law,
Virginia (Henry) Vander Werf, and Arlene (Gary) Popma.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant
brother; two brothers-in-law; and an infant grandson.

 

Funeral services for Rev. Haan will be held Friday,
April 26, 2013 at 2 p.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Waupun. Private
family services will be held Friday morning.  Friends and relatives may call on
the family on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in
Waupun.

 

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been set up in Rev.
Norman Haan’s name.
