Richard A. Mauch

Richard “Dick” Allen Mauch, 86, a resident of Fond du Lac, passed away June 4, 2018 at his home.

He was born April 15, 1932 in Milwaukee a son of the late Aloysious “Albert” and Viola Lemke Mauch.

On June 26, 1954 he married Elizabeth Wamser at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Milwaukee, by her uncle Fr. Joseph Wamser.

Dick was employed by Ladish Drop Forge, Milwaukee. Following a move to Fond du Lac, he was employed by Bestt Rollr and later by Fred Rueping Leather Company as an engineer. In 1975 he and Betty purchased Remington’s and after its sale owned and operated the Card Shack until 2014. He was a member, Past President, and Distinguished Luetinant Governor of the of the Fond du Lac Evening Optimist Club and helped organize the Morning Optimist Club. Dick was a member of Eagles Aire #270, and Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #57. Dick loved raising pigeons and won many shows and trophies. He served on the Fond du Lac County Board of Supervisors for 14 years. He was a Master Gardener. He and Betty were faithful volunteers with Broken Bread.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Betty, four children, Albert Mauch of Fond du Lac, Bernadette “Bunny” Goss of Greensboro, NC, Charles “Chuck” (fiancée Darlene Jones) Mauch, and Esther (Todd) Lehman all of Fond du Lac, eight grandchildren, Joshua, Chastity, Bridget, Katy, Meghan, Kelly, Jeff, and Jennifer, 11 great-grandchildren, Anabelle, Layla, Edison, Xavier, Andreas, Isabella, Santiago, Kason, Asa, Stevie, and Quinn, and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant son Joseph, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Mauch.

Visitation will be held on Saturday June 9, 2018 at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St. Fond du Lac, from 9:00 to 11:45 AM.

A Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated on Saturday 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Rev. Joseph Coerber will officiate. Zacherl Funeral Home is serving the family. www.zacherlfuneralhome.com
