Richard E. Knueppel

Richard “Nipper” E. Knueppel, 71, of Fond du Lac, died on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at his
residence.
He was born on March 7, 1947, in Fond du Lac, the son of Charles W. and Kathleen A. (Peebles)
Knueppel. He graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School. After his graduation he served in the
United States Army, and was in Vietnam from 1966-1967. Richard worked for the City of Fond du
Lac as a meter reader and later retired due to a disability.
Dick loved sports which included football, and baseball especially at Keisler Field. He was an avid
sports fan and enjoyed watching the Badgers, Brewers and Packers and could be seen attending local
high school sports at St. Mary’s Springs, Fond du Lac High School and Winnebago Lutheran
Academy.
He is survived by his five children: Kelly (Jim Wiese) Wink of Waterford, WI, Keri (Travis)
Lambrecht of Fond du Lac, Kory (Katie) Knueppel of Fond du Lac, Shelly (Robert “Bobby”)
Bridges of Orlando, FL and Matthew Knueppel of Northport, FL; ten grandchildren: Ryan Dorn,
Madeleine Trtan, Ava Wink, Alex and Taylor Olig, Bailey Urquhart, Connor & Kendra Knueppel,
Brayden and Brody Bridges; his brothers and sisters: Dave (Betty) Knueppel of Fond du Lac, Ann
(Mark) Miller of Kimberly, Beth Peters of Fond du Lac, Sue (Ken) Norlock of Hartford, Chuck
(Sharon) Knueppel of Fond du Lac, Jane (Dean) Wendt of Fond du Lac, Karen (Don) Bowen of
Fond du Lac and Kevin (Carolyn) Knueppel of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Tom, Joe and Bill and his brother-in-law
Joseph Peters.
His children would like to extend a special “Thank you” to Aunt Beth Peters (Dad’s sister) for never
giving up on him and sharing endless cups of coffee, dinners and support throughout the years. He
cherished her and his entire family.
VISITATION: Family and friends may call on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at
Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac.
