Richard G. “Dick” Draeger

          Richard G. “Dick” Draeger, 66, went to his final rest on November 2, 2012, after a long battle with diabetes. Dick was born to Carl and Ruth Volbright Draeger on October 17, 1946, where he and his brothers grew up on a farm near Waupun. After graduating from Waupun High School in 1964, he enlisted in the US Navy. He attended electrician school at Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Illinois. After his honorable discharge in 1967, he started employment at Mercury Marine where he began his apprenticeship as an Industrial Electrician, receiving his Journeyman’s card in September of 1971. He retired as a Leadman in 2004. On October 9, 1971, he married Catherine Roltgen at Our Lady of Angels Church in Armstrong. They have since resided in Fond du Lac. Dick was a member of the American Military Retirees Association and Elks Lodge #57. Dick always was trying his luck with the lottery and gambling. He and Cathy enjoyed vacationing, especially at Siesta Key, FL. Dick always maintained his sense of humor until his final days.

 

Dick is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Catherine, and their faithful companion, Sam their dog, his brother, Doug (Karen) Draeger of Hudsonville, MI, half-brothers Steve Draeger of Markesan and Ryan Draeger of Beaver Dam, a half-sister, Carla Parson of Beaver Dam, nieces and nephews, Laura Lagios of Fond du Lac, Mike Draeger of Waupun, Dan (Beth) Draeger of Avon Lake, OH, and Kelli (Dean) Esteves of Zionsville, IN. Also surviving are in-laws Mary Alice (Joe) Palof of St. Cloud, Richard (Karen) Gogolick of Madison, Robert (Gretchen) Roltgen of Baraboo, Joseph (Edna) Roltgen of Glenbulah, Theresa (Dr. Richard) Cross of Leominster, MA, Germaine (fiancé’ Scott) Calvey-Ditter of Dundee, Colette (Bruce ) Calvey-Drehmel of Fond du Lac, and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dennis, and a sister-in-law, Linda Draeger.

 

 

 

 

 

Visitation for Richard G. “Dick” Draeger will be on Monday, November 5, 2012, from 3 to 6 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word services will be at 6 PM at the funeral home on Monday.
