Rita D. Kobriger

Rita Dorothy Kobriger, age 92, of Chilton, died on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.  She was born on a farm on Killsnake Road on January 8, 1926, daughter of the late Paul & Alma (Danke) Bublitz.

She grew up in the country which allowed her the opportunity to love many pets including cats, dogs, horses and pigs.  She loved each and every one, but was especially close to her beloved Sheppy the Border Collie.

Rita began school in Hilbert and due to her father’s work, she split her high school years between Oshkosh and Chilton.  It was here that she met her husband, Clifford A. Kobriger.  This dashing and boisterous Airman swept her off her feet.  They were married in 1946 and the very next year their first born son, Nicholas Paul, was born.  Soon to follow was Mary Catherine.  After a while came the 3 little girls: Beth Ann, Paula Jean & Patricia Lynne.  They enjoyed their family life in Green Bay and Chilton where she had resided until her death.

Rita was a dedicated singer and musician; she sang in several choirs including St. Augustine’s, the Inter Parish Choir and was known as a Foxy Lady singing and dancing with an award winning ladies chorale from Appleton called the Fox Cities Sweet Adeline’s. Rita had also served as an organist for St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Inter Parish Faith Community from 1972 until around 2008.  She played the organ with a smooth, melody lifting quality that so many people expressed an appreciation for.

Rita trained to become a nurse, but worked as a medical records supervisor for Chilton Memorial Hospital.

Family was paramount for Rita.  She enjoyed many late spring trips to Idle Hours Resort in St. Germaine, Wisconsin where the family enjoyed fishing, food, playing cards and ice cream.  In her free time, she looked forward to shopping, especially with and for her daughters.  She loved her son, Nic, sharing his affinity for music and family; she was so proud of how he cared for his own grandchildren.  She was also a die hard Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan.  She knew the names of her favorite players and kept up regularly with their stats.

In recent years, her days were filled with the enjoyment of her children, grandchildren, neighbors and the mutual care & love with her husband: Clifford.

Rita is survived by her husband: Clifford “Doc” Kobriger; her children: Nicholas Paul (Lietta) Kobriger, Beth Ann (Tony) Jackels, Paula Jean (Patrick) Lynch, Patricia Lynne (Tim) Levknecht; 14 grandchildren: Sarah, Melissa, Erin, Cami, Beth, Shannon, Kristin, Nick, Josh, Tyler, Johnny, Matt, Nicole & Adam; and a niece: Dianne (Vic) Dassa.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter: Mary Catherine Selissen; a grandchild: Benjamin Paul Lynch; her brother: Harley Bublitz; a sister: Arlyne Hurwitz; a nephew: Duane Bublitz; and a niece: Dorothy Fox.
