Robert A. Meyer
Robert A. Meyer, 90, of Oakfield, died Sunday, February 6, 2022 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born April 8, 1931 in Kewaskum, the son of Arthur and Hildegard (Backaus) Meyer. On November 1, 1952 he married Dorothy H. Immel at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Robert farmed all his life until his retirement. He also worked for Oakfield Elevator, Waupun Truck Service, and Park Cheese. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oakfield and church council, Board of Directors for Oakfield Elevator, and Fond du Lac County Farm Bureau Board. Robert was known as “Grandpa Bob” by many. He enjoyed woodworking, playing ball with the kids, restoring Allis Chalmers tractors, and loved being with family.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; five children, Mary (Dave) Simon of Fond du Lac, Donna Meyer of Fond du Lac, Dale (Deb) Meyer of Oakfield, Ron Meyer of Oakfield, and Brian (Denise) Meyer of Fond du Lac; eleven grandchildren, Justin (Leah) Simon, Paul (Kelsey) Simon, Stephanie Garb, Andy (special friend, Angie) Parris, Katie (Roger) Ziegler, Karen Meyer, Kris Meyer, Cassie (Andy) Puddy, Ali (Cody) Birschbach, Aaron (special friend, Karah) Meyer, and Corey (Madison) Meyer; and seventeen great grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister, Marie Heider; brothers, Earl Meyer, Jerry (Mary) Meyer, Dave (Pat) Meyer, Roger (Margarita) Meyer, Dennis (Linda) Meyer, and Allen (Mary) Meyer; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson-in-law, Justin Garb; two great grandchildren, Lacey Ziegler and Colton Meyer; sister, Lorraine (Gerald) Marquardt; and brother-in-law, Earl Heider.
The visitation will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 245 Second Street in Oakfield. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday at church. Burial will follow in Avoca Cemetery.
