Robert ”Bob” Harkins

Robert ”Bob” Harkins, 78, of North Fond du Lac died on Friday Dec. 21, 2012 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home after a short bout with cancer. He was born on Dec. 2, 1934 in Taycheedah the son of the late Brunet R. and Helen (Mengel) Harkins. Bob served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean conflict and was discharged with honors. Bob was in the trucking business most of his life, working for a trucking company in Racine, Sadoff Iron and Metal of Fond du Lac, also had a casino bus business and also drove U.S. Mail truck from small communities to Milwaukee. He belonged to the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed having breakfast with his friends at Hardee’s and time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping with Paula and family and going to races and special events with Doug (Peanut).

Bob is survived by very special companion Paula Kline, 4 sons: Bobby Jim of North Fond du Lac, Clarence and Michael of Washington, Brian (Jill) of Beaver Dam, and two daughters: Jodi(Jeff) Will of North Fond du Lac and Tricia (Special friend T.J.) Harkins of Pennsylvania, 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, two sisters: Joanne (Franklin) Wilhelms and Patricia (Richard) Weimer, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, one sister Jeanne, one son Steve, one grandson Evan and one granddaughter Amanda Renee.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday Dec. 27th at 11:00 AM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 305 Fond du Lac Ave. Fond du Lac. Visitation will be Thursday Dec. 27th from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home with private committal and military honors to follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
