Robert C. Schad

Robert C. “Bob” Schad, age 91, of Chilton, died on August 20, 2020, at West Haven in Brillion. He was born on April 7, 1929, in the town of Memee in Manitowoc County, the son of the late Alois and Rose (Binversie) Schad. He attended school in School Hill and New Holstein. On May 24, 1950, he married Esther Schaefer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marytown. He was a member of Good Shepherd Parish in Chilton.



Robert was employed as a welding jig builder at Arps Corp., now Ameriquip, in New Holstein, for almost 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was an avid Packer, Badger, and Cubs fan, and enjoyed watching all football games. Bob also enjoyed many hours of fishing with his family, going to Canada a few times, and had great pleasure going to northern Wisconsin with his family. Bob and Esther traveled throughout the world in their earlier years. Bob loved polka music and he and Esther enjoyed going to dances every Sunday. He enjoyed playing cards with a few different card clubs, especially sheepshead and skat.



Robert is survived by one son: Andrew (Terry) Schad of Amery, WI; four daughters: Carol (Jeff) LaPoint of Appleton, Beverly (Terry) Hackbarth of Chilton, Darlene (Bill) Hostettler of Chilton, and Patricia Zastrow of Sherwood; twelve grandchildren: Nicole (Dan) Gullickson, Aaron Schad, Kim Schilling, Kayla Schad, Tina Karls, April Coffey, Amy Breckheimer, Kari (Matt Filteau) Hackbarth, Kyle (Amanda) Hackbarth, Jamie Hackbarth (fiance, Nathan), Tony (Emily) and Haley Zastrow; fifteen great-grandchildren: Treanna, Alexis, Kaylen Breckheimer, Reid (Nichole) Schad, Hayden and Madison Schilling, Nathan, Elizabeth, and Abigail Gullickson, Megan and Natalie Coffey, Lilah, Eli, William Hackbarth, and Mabel Filteau; a sister: Judy Thuecks; sisters-in-law: Erma Ramminger, Dorothy Schad, Joan Schad, and Liz Quackenboss; and many cousins and friends.



Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Esther, in September of 2014; his parents: Alois and Rose Schad; one grandson: Patrick Breckheimer; three brothers: Joseph (Joyce) Schad, Albert Schad, and Leroy Schad; five sisters: Loretta (Bill) Schuler, Sally (Russel) Lutzke, Dottie (Romy) Wiskerchen, Marion (Lavern) Rach, and Katie (Allen) Quackenboss; one brother-in-law: Romy Thuecks; in-laws: Erwin (Sally) Schaefer, Edwin (Josie) Schaefer, Gilbert (Virginia) Schaefer, Wilfred (Ann) Schafer, Frank (Helen) Schad, and Ambrose Ramminger.



Friends may call from 4:00pm until 7:30pm on Friday, August 28, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, and again at the funeral home from 9:00am until 10:00am on Saturday, August 29. Vigil prayers will take place at the funeral home following Friday night’s visitation. A burial service will take place at 11:30am on Saturday, August 29, at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery (North Madison St.) in Chilton. 



In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in the name of Robert C. Schad.
