Robert Emil Nast

Robert Emil Nast, 83, of Oakfield, passed away at his home on October 24, 2014.  Robert was born in Fond du Lac a son of Emil and Maria (Hoffmann) Nast. 

Bob graduated from Ripon High School in 1950.  He then enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953. He then enlisted in the United States Army. While in the army he served four tours of duty in Germany where he met and married his wife, Hannelore, in 1960.  He served in Korea and Vietnam and was the recipient of two Bronze Stars and the Army Commendation Medal.  He retired from the army after twenty years of service and returned to Fond du Lac with his family.

He was employed with the Damrow Company as assembler and welder for twenty years.

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with family.  He was a member of the Lomira American Legion Post 347, Eagles Club Aerie 270 and the Eagles Fishing Club.

He is survived by Hannelore, his wife of 54 years; four daughters, Danielle (Dave) Farrell, Suzan Nast, Dorothy Nast and Cindy Nast; three grandchildren, Amy Fredrickson, Quinn Bertelson and Peyton Nast; brother, Richard (Ruth) Nast; sister, Doris Zimmermann; special friends, Dave (Shari) Burbach; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Robert in death by his parents; foster parents, Bill and Lorraine Steineke.

Visitation:  The family will receive relatives and friends at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM.

Service:  At 3:00 PM on Monday, November 3, at the Zacherl Funeral Home, a Memorial Service will be celebrated.  Burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery, Fond du Lac, where military honors will be performed.

Memorials in Bob’s name may be directed to Agnesian Hospice and the Disabled Veterans of America.
