Robert L. Venne

Robert “Bob” L. Venne, 85, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2021 at Maple Meadows Assisted Living. He was born October 11, 1935 in Fond du Lac, WI to Linus and Dora (Dix) Venne. He graduated from Goodrich High School in 1953.

On April 19th 1954, Bob married his high school sweetheart, Gloriana Roth, at St. Joseph’s Church in Fond du Lac.

He began working at North Western Railroad and then moved onto Mercury Marine.

Bob went on to begin his work with the Fond du Lac Police Department. During that time, Bob graduated from the One Hundred and Twelfth session of the F.B.I. Academy in Quantico, VA.

Bob served as Detective, was promoted to Lieutenant and retired with the title of Deputy Chief after 26 ½ years with the Fond du Lac Police Department on January 31, 1990.  He served for several years as Fond du Lac County Emergency Government Coordinator after retirement.

Bob loved hunting, fishing and trap shooting at Wescot and Van Dyne Sportsmen’s Clubs. He also had a talent doing waterfowl carvings. He carved many, including one for each of his children.

Bob and Gloria have a beautiful family that they are very proud of: children Jeffrey (Barbara) Venne, Scott (Margaret) Venne, Cheryl (Jack) Michler, and Mike (Vickie Davies) Venne; six grandchildren Nick (Tiffany) Venne, Curt (Abbey Schoenborn) Venne, Jason (April Wilson) Venne, Justin (Justine Oswald) Venne, Cassandra (Peter) Costello and Cody Michler; great grandchildren Madelyn Venne, Vaughn Wilson-Venne, and Luke and Lauren Venne; step grandchildren Cara (Brad Dins) Kowalski, Kelly (Andrew Hall) Collien, Jacob (Melissa) Kowalski, Ciara Day and Silas Day; step great grandchildren Keegan and Broede Collien, Nathaniel and Max Kowalski.

Bob is further survived by sister Nancy Herms, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ron (Joyce) Roth, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister Georgianne Payton.

Bob’s family would like to thank both the staff at Maple Meadows Assisted Living and at Heartland Hospice for treating Bob like a friend, giving comfort and support to him and his family.

The family will be having private services on Saturday, March 13, 2021. Bob will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
