Roger Waisanen

Roger Waisanen, 63 of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully at his home October 31st. He was born in Hancock, Michigan on January 5, 1949 and was preceded in death by his father, Henry Waisanen.

Roger is survived by his wife, Pat Waisanen; his son Erik (Sydney) Waisanen of Milwaukee; his daughter Elizabeth (Kyle) Hansen of Milwaukee; his mother Irene Waisanen of Sheboygan, his sister Linda (Howard) Hyer of Sheboygan, and his brother Alan (Judith) Waisanen of California; and other relatives and friends.

Roger grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan prior to moving to Sheboygan, WI, where he met and married his wife of 42 years. The two made their home and raised their children in Fond du Lac. Roger was a devoted husband, father, and active member of the Fond du Lac Community, having served on the Fond du Lac County Board, Advocap Board of Directors, Community Council on Human Concerns, and the Fond du Lac Writer’s Club, and also coaching many youth athletic teams. Roger touched many lives working as a school psychologist with the Fond du Lac School District. He loved working with children and was widely known for his witty sense of humor and trademark hats.

Visitation: Visitation for Roger will be held at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, on Sunday, November 4, 2012, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Visitation will also be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 to 12:30.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday November 5, 2012, 1:00P PM at Holy Family Parish Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sheboygan.

A memorial is being established in Roger’s name.
