Ruby Marie Gerner

Ruby Marie Gerner, age 94, of the Town of Stockbridge, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Century Ridge in Chilton.  She was born April 11, 1928, daughter of the late Albert & Emma (Will) Steffes.

On June 14, 1950, she was united in marriage to Marvin H. Gerner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho.  The couple farmed together, side by side, their entire lives together.

Ruby was a vibrant member of St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Stockbridge where she was also actively involved with the Christian Women Society, helping with countless funeral luncheons for over 25 years.

In her free time, Ruby enjoyed countless card games, making crafts and crocheting.  She was well known as an excellent cook and baker who treasured times she was able to invite people over to share time, food and fond memories over one of her home cooked meals.  As a “social butterfly”, Ruby looked forward to opportunities to share conversation with friends and complete strangers and never hesitated at opportunities to make the lives of others better through her efforts.  She was a voracious reader who encouraged reading to others and always said she could go on an adventure without leaving her home.

Above all else, Ruby’s relationship with family and friends was paramount in her life.  Nothing brought her more joy than moments spent recalling stories and sharing opportunities for the future with the people she loved the most.

Survivors include her children: Steve (Barb) Gerner, Terri Gerner, Rosie (Tracy) Thorson; daughters-in-law: Kathy Gerner, Kelly (Mark Sanchez) Gerner; grandchildren: Kim Gerner & Fiancé, Damien Schmitz, Randy Gerner, Kristy Gerner, Ryan (Samantha) Gerner, Trista Gerner, Kiera Gerner.  Step-Grandchildren:  Adam & Tyler Thorson; great grandchildren: Addison Schmitz, Ellisha Gerner, Kaleb Kappell, Parker, Sophia & Chase Gerner; great-great grandchild: Lydia Shaw; her siblings: Severina Marsh, Elaine Weber, David (Kathleen) Steffes; and her in-laws: Mary Steffes & Georgene (Art) Hoerth.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
