Ruth M. Meier

Ruth M. Meier, 82, of Eden passed away Monday Sept. 22, 2014 at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born in Fond du Lac on January 20, 1932 the daughter of the late Lucian and Laura Roth Close. Ruth lived and was raised in Woodhull on the Close Family Homestead, attending the Woodhull County Grade School and graduated from Rosendale High School in 1950. She married John F. Meier on August 16, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eden. Ruth and John farmed the Meier Homestead in the Town of Empire. She also worked for many years as the bookkeeper at Dana/ Worm Pharmacy. Ruth and John bowled in several couples leagues. Ruth later bowled in the Monday night Ladies Other Half league. Ruth loved to cook and bake and do cross word puzzles. She enjoyed all the Wisconsin sports. Ruth was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, the Empire Social Club and the “Birthday Club”. 



Survivors include her husband John F. of Eden, one son John C. (Betty) Meier of Fond du Lac, two daughters: Jane (Dick Schoener) Meier of Fond du Lac and Mary Pierquet of Mt. Calvary, one grandson Jack Pierquet, one sister-in-law Dorisse Close of CA, one brother-in-law Bob Meier of Eden, five sister-in-laws: Mary Bick of Campbellsport, Rita (Harlen) Draeger of Racine, Monica (Tom) McDaniel of West Bend, Betty (Dick) Theis of CO, Sandy Meier of IA, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son-in-law David Pierquet, two brothers: Leonard and Donald (Geraldine) Close and five sisters: Ada (August) Barfknecht, Edna (Elmer) Bartz, Eleanor Morris, Jeanette (Dorrance) Phillips, Lorraine (Richard) Rabe and two brother-in-laws: William Bick and Leo Meier. 



Funeral services will be held Friday Sept. 26, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 535 Stow Street. Fond du Lac. Rev. Ted Drewsen will officiate with burial in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Eden. Visitation will be Friday Sept. 22nd from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church.
