Samuel O. Gudex

Samuel O. “Sam” Gudex was taken home to Heaven on January 24, 2022.  He was born October 9th 1927 in the town of Eden to Samuel S. and Lorena (Majerus) Gudex. 

Sam married Beatrice Williams on June 2nd 1951.  Dad and Mom farmed together in the town of Auburn, making many improvements to Sam-Ber-Tom Farms.  Dad had a great love for anything John Deere.  Sam was active in many farm organizations including Farm Bureau and served on the town board and various committees.  He was on the St. Lucas Lutheran Church stewardship committee, building committee, and counting team for many years.  He was a 4-H electricity project leader.

Sam is survived by his wife of 70 years, Beatrice and the eight children they were blessed with: JoAnn (Bill) Maedke of Eden, Tom (Sandy) of Lannon, Bernie of Eden, Shirley (Dan) Rose of Eden, Barb Polzin of Maplewood, Minnesota, Carol Nell of Algoma, Kathy (Mark) Kraus of Fond du Lac, and Sam of West Virginia.

He is further survived by 24 grandchildren; Kristine (AJ) Loenard, Mary (Derek) Moore, Bill (Erica) Maedke, Laurie (Jason) Pickering, Patti (Erik) Lemke, Tom Gudex, Amanda (Rob) Gollner, Jacob Gudex, Kevin Gudex, Ryan (Pam) Gudex, Cheryl (Jim) Pionke, Aaron (Brittney) Gudex, Nathan Gudex, Melissa Raimondi, Eric (Abby) Rose, Mark (Liz) Rose, Frank (Amanda) Rose, Ben (Jessie) Polzin, Cole Polzin, Zach Polzin, Jacob Nell, Jackie Nell, Samantha (Justin) Krueger, and Justin Kraus;

44 great-grandchildren; Devin, Joshua, Allison, and Alexa Leonard; Katherine, William, and Caleb Moore; Hannah, Eleanor, and William Maedke; Gavin, Garrett, and Alaina Pickering; Emery and Marshall Lemke; Luke, Vincent, Hal, and Leo Gudex; Ashley, Autumn, Braxton, and Bryson Pionke; Maggie, Gavin, and Devin Golightly; Abigail and Estin Paulson; Amarah Raimondi; Gabe, Manny, Maesyn, Azaylia, Acacia, Fiona, Archer, Victor, Zion, and Forrest Rose; Siri, Mara, Ilia, and Owen Polzin; and Maxwell Krueger.

His brother, Norman Gudex; sisters-in-law, LouAnn Gudex and Jeanette (Rick) Zacharias; brother-in-law, Richard (Joanne) Williams; and many nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jeff Nell; two great-grandchildren, Sarah Bea Maedke and Cody Paulson; brothers, Loren and John; and sisters, Viola Gellings, Marie Sabish, and Johanna Runge.  

Visitation will be Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 6:00 at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, 1417 Parkview Drive, Kewaskum, Wisconsin with a private burial Friday morning.
