Sandy J. Gurno

  • Sandy J. Gurno, 74, of Fond du Lac, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at St. Agnes Hospital after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born in Fond du Lac on July 21, 1944, the daughter of Arthur and Lillian (Kurzynske) Mueller. In 1962, Sandy graduated from L.P. Goodrich H.S. On July 20, 1963, she married James E. Gurno at Church of Peace with Rev. Koehler presiding. James preceded her in death on February 2, 2013.

    Sandy loved to sew and was employed at Glenn Manufacturing as a sewing machine operator. She worked at Copp’s Foods Center but spent most of her working years at Wells Vehicle Electronics L.P. in Fond du Lac. Sandy was a great cook and a wonderful homemaker for her husband and her daughter, Rhonda. She loved to work crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watch Green Bay Packer Football, and watch old black & white movies. Sandy loved to read and listen to country music. In later years, she enjoyed playing games on the computer.

    Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Gurno of Fond du Lac; four brothers, Kenneth (Beryl) Mueller of South Beloit, Wis., David (Cindy) Mueller of Fond du Lac, Lynn Mueller of Denver, Colo., and Jeffrey (Mary) Mueller of Fond du Lac; a sister-in-law, Donna Russell of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; four brothers-in-law, David (Joann) Gurno, Richard (Christine) Gurno, Donald Gurno, and Edward (Jane) Gurno, all of Fond du Lac; nieces and nephews; and special friends, Susan Immel and Sandy Reimer.

    She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Mueller; her mother, Lillian (Harvey) Blader; a brother, Larry Mueller; her husbands’ parents, Charles (Emma) Gurno; a sister-in-law, Shirley (Fritz) Altman; along with many aunts and uncles.

    Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with entombment following in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
