Sandy Kurkowski

Sandy Kurkowski of Fond du Lac, age 68, passed away Sunday
morning, April 26, 2015, surrounded by family. She battled courageously with
cancer for 20 years. Our mom was a fighter and tried with all her might to
continue living for her daughters.

Mom was born December 20, 1946, in Waupun, to Ambrose and
Esther Braun. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1965 and attended one
year at UW-Oshkosh.  In 1967, Mom married
our dad, Joseph Kurkowski, and started a family. She was a wonderful and loving
stay-at-home mom for many years while also providing childcare out of her home.

Later, Mom worked for many years at the Forest Mall at
numerous stores, including Berger’s Fine Apparel, Siefert’s,  JCPenny’s, Prange’s and for the last 20
years, managed Younker’s Fine Jewelry Department until she retired in 2010 due
to the progression of her cancer.

Mom’s greatest loves in her life were her strong faith in
Christ, her family, close friends and love of flowers in her yard. She always
sacrificed for ‘her girls’ even when she had little for herself. Mom always put
us before everything else.

Our mom is survived by her mother, Esther Braun; her four
daughters, Tracy Schneider, Wendy (Richard) Kurkowski-Evans, Amee Kurkowski,
Jodi (Tyler) Hicken; her sister, Bonnie (Paul) Stone; 7 grandchildren, Kylee
and Alexys Schneider, Gaelan and Gavin Evans, Seth Kurkowski, Holly Peterson
and Emma Hicken.  She is further survived
by three nieces, Erica, Melanie, and Teresa, and special family, JoAnn (a.k.a.
Dodo) Kurkowski and Barb Rowland. She was preceded in death by her father in
1993.

Services:  A visitation will be held Saturday, May 2, at
Grace Christian Church, 1596 4th St., Fond du Lac, WI from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM.   A memorial service will follow the
visitation at the church at 1:00 PM.

Our family would like
to give special thanks to Dr. Vander Coy and staff at the Agnesian Cancer
Center. Our mother truly received sincere care and compassion there, and we are
forever grateful.

We would also like to
extend a very special and heartfelt thank you to the Agnesian Hospice Hope West
Team for the exceptional care and compassion shown to our mother and us during
her last days.
